Herbert Fixler

Herbert B. Fixler is an attorney with Cozen O’Connor and a member of the firm’s Private Client Services Group. He is resident in the firm’s Midtown, New York office. Herb concentrates his practice in the fields of Estate Planning and Administration and provides services to a wide range of clients including family business owners. Herb designs and implements plans for the inter-generational transfer of family wealth, including family business interests and the reduction of gift, estate and generation-skipping transfer taxes. He helps clients plan for estate liquidity needs and advises in regard to charitable gifts and bequests. He also supervises the administration of estates and trusts.Herb advises owners of business and commercial real estate on ownership structures, owners’ agreements, compensation arrangements and succession. He is a member and former board member of Attorneys For Family-Held Enterprises, a non-profit organization comprised of attorneys throughout the United States.In addition to his law practice, Herb has served for the past nine years as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Hyde Leadership Charter School which is located in the Hunts Point section of the South Bronx. The school has just under 1,000 students in grades K-12.Finally, Herb is a professional photographer whose work is frequently exhibited and is included in numerous private and corporation collections.Herb received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Villanova University and a Juris Doctor Degree from the Washington College of Law of the American University where he served as Director of the Legal Aid Society. Upon graduation from law school, Herb served with Volunteers in Service to America (“VISTA”) before entering private practice in New York City.
