Maureen Farrow

President, Economap, Inc.

Maureen Farrow is President of Economap Inc.  The company was formed in 1992 to offer strategic economic advisory services for business and government. The firm specializes in interpreting the impact of global economic trends on financial markets to assist portfolio managers with asset allocation decisions. During her career, Maureen has specialized in applied economics, forecasting, and policy development.  Her professional experience includes a wide range of engagements spanning more than 40 years and, in particular, she has acquired an in-depth knowledge of the consumer products sector, retailing, metals and minerals sector, steel industry, insurance industry, financial markets, telecommunications, real estate and construction. She is widely recognized for her frequent public speaking engagements on global economic trends, international trade issues, Canadian and regional economics, demographics, competitiveness and the environment. Maureen currently serves as a Director of The Equitable Life Insurance Company of Canada, and a member of the Investment Committee of the WCB of British Columbia, WSIB of Ontario and McGill Pension Investment Committee. Over the past twenty years Maureen has served as a director of a number of public and private companies including Bentall Capital, National Trust, Dylex,  Schneider Inc. and Chair and director of Sionna Investment Managers Inc.   She is a member of the British North American Committee. Maureen has also served as a Public Governor of The Toronto Stock Exchange from 1993 to 1994, Director of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, 1990 to 1996 and as a Board member of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, 1985 to 1991.  Maureen served as the President of the Canadian Association of Business Economics from 1983 to 1985 and President of the Toronto Association of Business Economists from 1979 to 1980.  In 1991, Maureen was made a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants, in honour of her contribution as an economist to the business community. In 1996, Maureen received the Commemorative Medal marking the 125th Anniversary of Confederation. From early 2000 to August 2010 Maureen was the founding Chair of Autism Speaks Canada. 1966 – 1969:  Economist, General Electric (U.K.) 1970 – 1980:  Vice President and Partner, Singer Associates 1980 – 1992:  Partner & Chief Economist, Coopers & Lybrand Consulting Group Spring 1987- Fall 1989:  President, C.D. Howe Institute 1994 – 1999:  Executive Vice President, Loewen, Ondaatje, McCutcheon Limited 2002-  2007: Chair, COO and Director Sionna Investment Managers Inc. 1992 – Present:  President, Economap Inc. Maureen received a B.Sc. Honours in Economics from Hull University, England in 1966 and undertook Post Graduate work at York University, Ontario.
