William Woodburn

Founding Partner, Global Infrastructure Management LLC

William Woodburn is a founding partner of Global Infrastructure Management, LLC and a member of the Board and the Investment Committee of the Manager, and is based in new York. Prior to leading of the Manager, he was the President and CEO of GE Infrastructure which consisted of Water Technologies, Security and Sensing Growth Platforms plus GE Fanuc Automation. During Mr. Woodburn’s tenure from 2003 to 2005, GE Infrastructure grew from $3 billion to $5 billion in revenue. Prior to leading GE Infrastructure, Mr. Woodburn was President and CEO of GE Specialty Materials, a multi-business division of GE that included Silicones, Quartz and Water Technologies. In that role he oversaw several key acquisitions including these that led to the GE entry and expansion in the water technology business. Before Specialty Materials, Mr. Woodburn was Executive Vice President and a Member of the four-person Office of the CEO at GE Capital with oversight responsibilities for GE Capital Equipment Management business, which included Americo, Fleet Series, Rail Services, TIP & Modular Space and Penske Truck Leasing. He served on the GE Capital Board for 2000 and 2001. He also oversaw GE Capital India, GE Global Sourcing, GE Capital Container Finance and GE SeaCo JV. Mr. Woodburn joined GE in 1984 as Manager- Strategy and Business Development for GE Lighting, where hr subsequently held several leadership positions in the U.S. and globally. He was responsible for the Lighting expansion in Europe though the Tungsram and Thorn acquisitions. In July 1994, he was named Vice President and General Manager- GE Superabrasives. In that role Mr. Woodburn led dramatic improvements in productivity and Six Sigma while enhancing the business’ return on capital. Prior to joining GE, Mr. Woodburn held process engineering and marketing positions at Union Carbide’s Linde Division for five years and was an engagement manger at McKinsey & Company for four years focusing on Energy and Transportation industries. Mr. Woodburn graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in 1973 and from Northwestern University in 1975 with B.S. and M.S. degrees in Engineering.
