Alex Cook

Chief Executive Officer / Chief Investment Officer, Fortress Investment Group

Alex M. Cook is Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of the Fortress Partners Fund. Mr. Cook has day-to-day operating responsibility for the General Partner and the Investment Manager. He draws upon the advice of Fortress, the managing member of the Investment Manager and an affiliate of the General Partner, which provides strategic guidance. Prior to joining Fortress in April of 2006, Mr. Cook was a Managing Director at Offit Hall Capital Management LLC and was a member of that firm’s Investment Committee. Mr. Cook also served in a variety of investment roles at Offit Hall including Co-Portfolio Manager for the Offit Hall Absolute Return Fund and the Offit Hall Special Opportunities Fund, and Director of Research. During his tenure at Offit Hall, total assets under advisement grew from approximately $4 billion to $19 billion, with client assets committed to absolute return strategies composing about $5 billion of the latter amount. Mr. Cook joined Offit Hall in August 1999. Previously, Mr. Cook worked in the Salomon Brothers, Inc. Government Institutional Sales Group in San Francisco from 1985 until 1996. Mr. Cook managed the group from 1993-1996, and was responsible for covering all institutional clients in the western United States for treasury, agency, and derivative products. From June 1982 through August 1983, Mr. Cook worked in the Economics Department of Security Pacific National Bank as a research analyst. From 1996-1999, Mr. Cook took a sabbatical with his family on Sanibel Island, Florida. During this time, Mr. Cook served as the chairman of The Sanibel School Advisory Council, and was the driving force behind the expansion and renovation of the Sanibel Elementary K-5 School to include the grades K-8. He is also the founder of The Sanibel School Foundation. Concurrently, Mr. Cook was appointed and served on the City of Sanibel’s Five-Year Budget Review Committee. Mr. Cook graduated from Pomona College in 1982, with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and received his M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management in 1985.
