Michael J. Plummer

Michael J. Plummer is President and COO of Fernwood Art Investments. Mr. Plummer is an accomplished art management and marketing executive with considerable auction house, marketing and entrepreneurial experience. Prior to joining Fernwood, Mr. Plummer was President and Chief Executive of Artbase, Inc., the first business specifically designed to provide technology and information services for the emerging discipline of art asset management. Artbase serviced a global client base of over a thousand leading artists, galleries, dealers, private collectors and institutions including Jasper Johns, Richard Avedon, Mitchell-Innes & Nash, Knoedler Gallery, Don and Doris Fisher, Werner Kramarsky and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Mr. Plummer also enjoyed a fifteen-year career at Sotheby’s auction house during which time he served as Vice President and Marketing Division Head for North and South America and Asia. In this role, Mr. Plummer pioneered research and marketing programs to create a new base of art collectors. Previously, Mr. Plummer was Director of Marketing, Finance and Administration for the firm’s real estate subsidiary, where he was a principle in the profitable restructuring of that company in preparation for Sotheby’s Holdings IPO.
