George Lucas

George B. Lucas Jr. is a Principal and Portfolio Manager at Lucas Capital Management. Mr. Lucas began his career in the investment business in 1960, joining his father George B. Lucas at Cooke & Lucas, which was founded in 1934. The Cooke & Lucas seat on the NYSE was sold in late 1967 and they joined the venerable firm of Spencer Trask & Co. where he managed the top performing uptown NYC office specializing in institutional research and investment management. As the firm merged in steps into Shearson/American Express and finally Smith Barney, Mr. Lucas was Senior Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager. In the 60’s and 70’s he tended to specialize in natural resource and oil and gas research and trusts. In 1982 Mr. Lucas was selected one of the nation’s top 20 “outstanding brokers” by Registered Rep magazine. He has served as trustee on foundations and is a former Vice Chairman of the Board of Mulenberg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Lucas has a BS degree from Lehigh University ‘where he majored in Industrial Engineering. He held the rank of Captain with the U.S. Army Reserve.
