Bill Staton, “America’s Money Coach®,” became a millionaire investor at age 31 and a multimillionaire by age 35. He began his investment career as a securities analyst at Interstate Securities in Charlotte in 1971, then quickly rose to become Director of Research in 1975 and ultimately Executive Vice-President and a member of both the firm’s Management Committee and Board of Directors.Staton is founder and chairman of The Staton Institute® Inc., which empowers people to take charge of their personal finances through entertaining and easy-to-understand educational materials and WealthBuilding seminars. He alongside wife and partner Mary also provides personal portfolio management for individuals and small businesses through Staton Financial Advisors LLC. He has served1) as a Boy Scout troop leader and on the BSA Mecklenburg Council endowment committee,2) on the Dean’s Advisory Council at the McColl School of Business (Queens University),3) as a director of the Bald Head Island Conservancy,4) as a director of Junior Achievement, and5) as a founder/director of both First Commerce Bank and Bank of Commerce.Also with Mary, he was co-chair of the Parents Board at Appalachian State University and the Parents Council at Hollins University, and was also a co-founder of Parents for Drug-Free Youth and the Charlotte Children’s Choir.Bill is a career resource for graduates of The Wharton School and the University of North Carolina in Charlotte, has been teaching students (with Mary now) at Charlotte Country Day School how to invest for more than 20 years. In addition, Bill is a board member of the Cultural & Heritage Museums Foundation, director of the Balsam Mountain Preserve Trust and also Opera Carolina of Charlotte’s endowment board.Staton lives in Charlotte, NC with Mary. They have four children and a grandson. He tries to play golf and tennis twice each week and usually does.
