Michael Kostoff

Managing Partner, Kostoff Group

Michael Kostoff has served the financial services industry as a researcher and consultant for the past twenty years. Currently, he is Managing Partner of The Kostoff Group, an advisory firm focusing on the wealth management, private banking, investment management, insurance and retirement services businesses. The Kostoff Group, established in 2008, works with institutions both in the United States and Europe. Its offerings include strategy development, sales and relationship productivity, market research, cost management, meeting/offsite facilitation and business development assistance. Prior to founding The Kostoff Group, Mr. Kostoff managed the Financial Services Research Practice for the Corporate Executive Board, where he worked with the senior-most executives from over 600 institutional relationships spanning five continents. He managed programs across the financial services spectrum—including retail banking, commercial banking, private banking, wealth management, retirement services, investment management, insurance and operations. During this timeframe, Mr. Kostoff advised senior management on a broad array of issues including business strategy, sales execution, talent development, and client management. Along with hundreds of presentations given to client institutions, Mr. Kostoff has facilitated numerous senior executive roundtables for the Corporate Executive Board. He has also spoken extensively to major industry groups around the world—to include the ABA’s Trust and Private Banking Conference, the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, the Trust Management Association, the insurance industry’s Top of the Table and the Investment Company Institute. Mr. Kostoff served as a member of the Corporate Executive Board’s Executive Committee for five years. During this period, the Corporate Executive Board grew its revenues over 30% per year and its net income over 50% per year. During his twenty years with the firm, he also managed New Business Development for the company. This called on him to develop new research programs across the company, each of which contributed to the growth and profitability of the firm. Prior to his tenure with the Corporate Executive Board, Mr. Kostoff served as a military intelligence officer with the United States Army. He specialized in strategic intelligence and Latin American affairs, and served in Hawaii, Panama, El Salvador and Washington, DC. Mr. Kostoff received a Bachelor of Science with high honors from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence from the Defense Intelligence College and a Masters in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University
