Daniel P. Reingold

Director of Telecom Finance & Author, Columbia University

Daniel P. Reingold has been Project Director for Telecom Finance at the Columbia Institute for Tele-Information (CITI) since he left Wall Street in April 2003. CITI is part of the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University. Mr. Reingold’s book, “Confessions of a Wall Street Analyst: A True Story of Inside Information and Corruption in the Stock Market,” was published by HarperCollins in January 2006. In addition, he is a member of New York City’s Telecommunications Policy Advisory Group. Mr. Reingold was a Wall Street telecom analyst for 14 years (1989-2003), first at Morgan Stanley and then Merrill Lynch and Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB). Institutional Investor magazine ranked him the number one or number two telecom services analyst for most of his Wall Street career. At CSFB and Merrill Lynch, Mr. Reingold was Managing Director and served as the firms’ Global Telecom Research Coordinator and Senior U.S. Wireline Services equity research analyst. At Morgan Stanley, he was Senior U.S. Telecom Services analyst. Prior to Wall Street, Mr. Reingold was a financial executive (including Director of Business Analysis) at MCI Communications in Washington, DC from 1983 until 1989 and, prior to MCI, he worked as an economic consultant at Coopers & Lybrand from 1979-1983. Mr. Reingold is frequently quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Business Week, The Financial Times, Barrons’ and other business publications. He has appeared on CNBC, CNN, Bloomberg TV and other television business news shows and has been a special guest on “Wall $treet Week with Louis Rukeyser” three times. He also has participated in numerous public policy forums at, e.g., the Federal Communications Commission, the Aspen Institute, the New York Bar Association and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business. Mr. Reingold, a chartered financial analyst (CFA), received a master’s degree in public affairs (MPA) from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin. He received his BA in political science and mathematics at the University of New York at Albany.
