Portfolio Defense
“Portfolio Defense is a transformative experience that creates unparalleled bonds among members. After achieving a level of trust where they can talk freely about financial matters, members find personal matters easy to share by comparison.”
--Michael Sonnenfeldt, Founder and Member
Once a year, our members are required to present their personal investment portfolios for an in-depth review and analysis in the context of their stated philosophy, investment criteria and goals. This level of exposure and intimacy is unique to TIGER 21.
Financial results are presented in writing, and the presenting member will need to “defend” the stated objectives and demonstrate how the portfolio’s composition and performance reflect these objectives. The member must balance investment strategy, inter-generational issues, philanthropic interests and daily living needs.
The focus of these annual sessions is to harness the collective intelligence of the group by identifying potential problems or opportunities for the member presenting his or her portfolio. Overall risk, diversification, and downside protection are among the factors groups explore in depth. Groups help fellow members to see the relationship between their strategies and their objectives, as well as to better understand the biases that may influence their investment decisions.
