TIGER 21 and Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust Bring Finances Home with Special Conferences for Members’ Spouses
NEW YORK (March 18, 2008) — TIGER 21, the nation’s premier peer-to-peer learning network for high net worth investors, and Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust have joined forces to produce finance-themed seminars geared toward women and the family. The conferences, titled Women, Wealth & Family – the first to be held in New York City on May 21 – will provide Members’ spouses with a better understanding of wealth management, wealth transfer, the creation of legacy families, and other issues related to high net worth women. The seminar series will also be featured in Southern California (June 17), Northern California (June 18) and in Florida (October 16).
In keeping with TIGER 21’s approach of having experts address its Members on wealth-related issues, the conference will include presentations by professionals from Gibraltar – which has a specialized practice catering to high net worth individuals – and national consultancy IFF Advisors, which counsels clients on increasing their financial and intellectual capital.
The idea for the conference grew from several TIGER 21 Headliner presentations where members were permitted to bring guests. A number of Members brought their spouses and the events were very well received. Not only were the responses overwhelming, but Members expressed an interest – as well as a need – for additional programs for their family members.
“While one spouse typically takes responsibility for managing family finances, there should be a certain level of collaboration, so it is important for both spouses to understand the dynamics of wealth management,” said Tommy Gallagher, CEO of TIGER 21. “The curriculum is designed to facilitate a greater degree of partnership between spouses in the family wealth management process.”
Among the sessions planned are:
* The Role of Women in Managing the Family’s Wealth: explores the challenges of managing the family’s wealth and reviews options and case studies in an effort to make women comfortable in this role.
* Best Practices in Managing Wealth and Developing an Investment Strategy: studies asset allocation theory and discusses ways of minimizing risk and maximizing returns to preserve and grow the family’s wealth.
* The Spirit of Entrepreneurship: discusses the independent mindset that characterizes many TIGER 21 Members and shows how this translates into a wealth management strategy.
* How Will Your Story Be Written?: explores frameworks for ensuring that future generations of family remain productive, competent and connected to each other with insights on avoiding the “shirtsleeve to shirtsleeve in three generations” phenomenon that many families experience.
* How Much is Enough?: tackles inheritance issues, especially the dilemma of leaving enough for your children without de-motivating them.
"Successful legacy families attend diligently to the business of the family, this includes both quantitative topics as well as qualitative," said Steve Hayworth, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust. "In helping affluent families manage their wealth and well-being, we believe it is vitally important for both spouses to understand the basic concepts surrounding wealth management. This conference is designed to do just that."
“We think that the collective intelligence that our Members gain from the TIGER 21 experience can be shared with spouses and families, so that this wealth of knowledge can benefit each family’s decision-making on pertinent wealth management issues,” said Gallagher.
Conference participants will also get a glimpse of “A Day in the Life at TIGER 21.” “Their husbands invest a lot of time at TIGER 21 and we feel that our unique process adds great value to Members’ bottom line assets and helps them address family issues such as inheritance. We think it is important for spouses to understand this process,” he continued.
